MEA Attestation, also known as the Normal Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Stamp. This stamp is necessary when documents need to be attested by any Embassies, High Commissions, and Consulate of Countries.
All prospective applicants are requested to go through the guidelines for attestation/apostille, requisite documents required for attestation of documents from the MEA, and the service charges for attestation/apostille services prior to preparing the application for submission.
Applicants are solely responsible for the applications they submit. Therefore, any false documentation or misrepresentation of facts and information in support of their application will directly affect the decision by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.
MEA (Ministry of External Affairs) attestation is the most valuable stamp on the documents. It will be done only after the requested documents have been validated and authenticated by the respective agencies in the state where the certificate was issued.
The General Administration Department/Home Department is the appropriate authority for personal documents. In the case of educational documents, they must first be attested by the HRD of the relevant state, union, or government territory.
MEA deals with anything foreign-related movement, so its mandate is for applicants who need to authenticate their documents in/from India to prove the authenticity of the certificates/documents. The External Affairs Department in Delhi was previously in charge of centralised attestation, but it is now decentralised.
